cholesterol!

I have been crazy busy with work, but still have gotten in good workouts this week. The weight on the scale hasn't budged, but usually the way it seems to work for me is that I will lose a bunch all at once, so I am not discouraged yet. Today the subject is a bit different, though... my cholesterol was crazy high when it was tested this summer. I tried to make excuses for myself, like I had just had a baby 3 months before, so that made it high, or that I was nursing. But at the end of the day, the real reason why it is so high is because I eat crap. I have tried cutting out high high fat dairy, most meat, but it is hard to not eat that all the time. Especially when I have a husband that eats that stuff regularly. I have been trying to eat psyllium husk before every meal as well as getting more flax seed into my diet. But I don't know if this is going to lower it enough to get my doc to stop talking about medicine. I am due for another test again in couple weeks and I am terrified that my cholesterol will be even higher and I will have to stop nursing to go on lipitor or another statin. So sad. My little one loves nursing and I know the health benefits to her are so great. It just makes me sad that I did this to myself by not maintaining a healthy weight and eating junk so my cholesterol is so high.

sigh...

not such a great day today. Kind of sort of totally fell off the wagon... before I even got on it. It started with leftover mac and cheese from my daughter's b-day, and it just got harrier from there. But I did keep up with my fiber and had lots of fruit at dinner, and walked on the treadmill for an hour. Got the little ones to be early so that I can sleep early and hopefully get on a good pattern where I can squeeze in a workout in the morning, and another short one at night, since it is easier to get in two short ones than one long one! So, as Scarlett says, tomorrow is another day, and it will be better! I am thinking of joining weight watchers online with some gals from work, so maybe that would help a bit. The only trouble is that last time I joined, the extra points you get with breastfeeding really threw me off track and I didn't lose any weight after about 2 weeks, so I lost interest. I really like sparkpeople for keeping track of my foods... it seems that as long as I write down what I eat, I eat more carefully. So, here we go again! We are going to shoot for the "big drop" this week. I will weigh in tomorrow morning, and then see where I am a week from now! I just have to pick myself up, dust myself off... and start all over again! It will work one of these times I just can't give up.

So, plan for tomorrow-
am workout for 20 minutes
track calories
have 5 servings of fruits or veggies
go vegetarian for the day!

new day

I feel like one day I just woke up fat. I guess I know how it happened, but each time I overate, I thought, "oh, this once won't hurt!"- multiply by 1000... and there you go- 50 extra pounds, high cholesterol, and overall lack of energy. So today is a new day. I am promising myself that I am really turning over a new leaf, and hoping maybe this blog will keep me accountable.... hopefully. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as my grandmother used to say. So, here is today a new day, a new leaf.

Plan for tomorrow:

1) exercise first thing in the am
2) track food on spark people. every. single. bite.
3) no eating after 7 pm
4) oatmeal for breakfast, lots of fiber

weekly plan:

1) limit meat to 2 times per week
2) no cheese!
3) exercise 5 times, including 2 times of weight lifting.
4) blog on how I am keeping up with my goals!
